The sky this season
Saturn retrograde 2026, from 26 July to 11 December
For four and a half months Saturn appears to walk backward through Pisces. Here are the computed stations, the band of degrees that gets crossed three times, and what the season is actually for.
The computed facts
Saturn stations retrograde on 26 July 2026 at 20°31' of sidereal Pisces, in Revati nakshatra, walks back to 13°41' of Pisces by 11 December, in Uttara Bhadrapada, then resumes forward motion. The span between those degrees is crossed three times in a single year, forward, backward, and forward again. We computed both stations with the Swiss Ephemeris, the same engine that casts every chart on this site.
What a retrograde actually is
No planet reverses. The Earth, moving faster on an inner track, overtakes Saturn each year, and for a stretch Saturn appears to drift backward against the stars the way a slower train appears to roll backward as yours passes it. The appearance is an ordinary consequence of orbits, which is worth saying plainly because half the internet treats it as an emergency. Saturn is retrograde for roughly a third of every year of your life so far.
How the tradition reads it
Jyotiṣa treats a retrograde planet as strong but inward, its attention turned to unfinished business. For Saturn, the planet of contracts, structures, and dues, the retrograde months read as an audit. Agreements made carelessly come back for renegotiation. Shortcuts taken in the spring ask to be done properly. Payments, in every sense, come due or come back. None of this is punishment. It is the same Saturn, checking the work twice.
The station days themselves, late July and mid December, are when the giant stands still in the sky, and tradition marks a planet's standstill as its loudest week. Decisions near those dates deserve an extra night's sleep.
Who should pay attention
- The sade sati signs. Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries Moons are already hosting Saturn's long walk, and the retrograde re-runs part of their current chapter. Pisces Moons in particular get the audit at home.
- Degrees 13 to 21 of Pisces. A natal Moon, lagna, or key planet in that band is crossed three times this year. Tradition reads a triple crossing as one lesson taught, revised, and confirmed.
- Leo Moons. Saturn currently transits their eighth house, the ashtama shani chapter, and the retrograde stretches its bookkeeping.
- Everyone else, lightly. A retrograde Saturn in the sky is weather, not a verdict, and its house in your chart tells you which room of life is being tidied.
Using the season well
The old counsel converts directly into modern verbs. Finish what is half done. Chase what is owed to you and settle what you owe. Re-read the contract before renewing it. Service the machine before it insists. Postpone only the launches that are truly irreversible, and use the December direct station as the natural green light. People who work with Saturn's grain in these months tend to end them lighter, not heavier.
Common questions
What are the exact dates?
Retrograde from 26 July 2026, direct from 11 December 2026, computed at 20°31' and 13°41' of sidereal Pisces respectively.
Is it bad luck?
No. It is a revision term in the school year. The grade depends on the homework, as it always did.
Am I affected?
Check your Moon sign and your degrees. If your Moon is in Aquarius, Pisces, or Aries, or anything you value sits between 13° and 21° Pisces, this season speaks to you directly. A free chart settles it in a minute.
Can I start new work during a retrograde?
Routine beginnings, yes. The truly irreversible ones sit better after the direct station, a rule that costs nothing to honour.
