A checklist before you pay

Which online astrology websites in India can you trust? A ten point checklist

Trust is easier to check than to feel, and every test here needs only a site's own pages. Graha Darpan publishes this checklist, so weigh it as you would any host describing its neighbours. At the end we score ourselves on it, shortfalls included.

The short answer

Trust the astrology websites that let you check them. A reputable site in India names its calculation settings, shows the price before you spend, publishes refund and privacy terms you can read, sells no fear and guarantees no remedy, names a grievance officer, and, if it is a marketplace, shows who the astrologer is. No name passes on reputation alone, ours included.

Start with the chart

1. It names its calculation settings

Change the ayanamsa, house system or lunar node and the same birth can give different degrees, houses, even signs. A trustworthy calculator names its settings, and the better ones let you choose. AstroSage's free kundli form offers six ayanamsa options, and Drik Panchang's kundali page offers four, with mean or true Rahu.

2. Its numbers match a second calculator

Cast the same birth on two sites with the same ayanamsa. Compare the lagna degree, the Moon's nakshatra and pada, and your running dasha's dates. Honest calculators agree closely. If they differ, check the birth time and place first, since the lagna moves about one degree every four minutes.

Pricing and refund terms

3. The price is shown before you spend

AstroTalk's policy says it charges for chat and calls “on per minute basis”, as Astroyogi does, at rates that vary by astrologer. ClickAstro sells fixed-fee consultations, and many AI apps sell question packs. Each is fair when the rate, any minimum recharge and what a free first chat covers are plain before you start.

4. The refund terms are in writing

Find the window, where refunds go, and whether a disappointing answer counts. At the time of writing, AstroSage's terms consider a refund only “within 2 hour of payment and no service is availed”, and Astroyogi's policy sends refunds “back into the user's Astroyogi Wallet”. ClickAstro's terms offer a corrected report for errors, and a full refund for one not delivered on time. Such terms are normal for a service used in real time.

5. No clock is pushing you

A timer on a price or an offer exists to shorten your thinking. A trustworthy site lets you close the tab and return to the same terms tomorrow. Treat any countdown as a reason to slow down, ours included.

Reputable astrologers and platforms

6. You can see who is answering

On a marketplace, read the astrologer's profile before you pay. Look for training, tradition, languages and reviews, and ask what a “verified” badge checked. Then ask whether a person or software is answering. ClickAstro's terms say its “Guruji” is “not an individual or person”, and AstroSage lists its AI astrologers under their own heading.

7. No fear selling and no guaranteed remedy

A reading that names a frightening outcome and its paid cure in one breath is selling, not reading. Doshas come with classical cancellations, and an honest reader states them together. AstroTalk's policy calls its services “for entertainment purposes only” and says it “does not guarantee any results as expected by the User”. That candour caps any promise made in a chat.

Privacy policy and the DPDP Act

8. Consent you can withdraw, data you can delete

Birth details stored with your name are personal data, covered by India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The DPDP Rules notified in November 2025, phased in over 18 months, require standalone consent notices and answers to requests to access, correct or erase data “within a maximum of 90 days”. Look for a policy that names the company responsible, lists who receives your data, says whether it is sold, and makes withdrawal and deletion as easy as sign-up.

Consumer complaints and misleading claims

9. A real company and a grievance officer

An address, a named grievance officer and a promised response time tell you who must answer. Among the established names, AstroSage's app comes from Ojas Softech, Drik Panchang from Adarsh Mobile Applications LLP, Prokerala from Ennexa Technologies, ClickAstro from Astro-Vision Futuretech, AstroTalk from Astrotalk Services and Astrotalk Online, and Astroyogi from Netway India.

10. You know where to complain

Write to the grievance officer first. If that fails, the National Consumer Helpline takes complaints on 1915 and online. Misleading advertisements can be reported to ASCI, which publishes its rulings. The Central Consumer Protection Authority's 2022 guidelines define “free claim advertisements” and say a disclaimer must not “hide material information”. For personal data, the DPDP Rules provide a digital Data Protection Board.

Common questions

Which online astrology websites in India can I trust?

Any site that passes checks you can run yourself. It names its settings, shows prices before you spend, publishes refund and privacy terms, sells no fear and names a grievance officer. AstroSage, Drik Panchang, Prokerala, ClickAstro, AstroTalk and Astroyogi all name the company behind them.

How do I check an online astrologer's credentials?

Open the profile before you pay and look for training, tradition, languages and reviews. Ask what “verified” means on that platform. And make sure you know whether you are talking to a person or to software.

Can I get a refund if a prediction turns out wrong?

Rarely, anywhere. Astroyogi's refund policy rules out refunds for lack of accuracy, AstroSage's terms refuse them once a consultation is availed, and Graha Darpan does not refund credits already used. Read the refund terms before you recharge.

How do I complain about an online astrology consultation in India?

Write first to the company's grievance officer. If that fails, call the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, from 8 AM to 8 PM, or register the grievance online. A misleading advertisement can be reported to ASCI.

Is it safe to give my birth details to an astrology website?

As safe as its privacy policy is clear. Look for the company responsible, who receives your data, whether it is sold, and a way to delete it. The DPDP Rules, 2025, phased in over 18 months, give requests to access, correct or erase a 90 day limit.
