Best kundli matching app for marriage, and what a good guna milan checks

Graha Darpan publishes this page and makes one of the apps on it, so weigh it as you would any host describing the neighbours. Instead of a ranking, here is the checklist a good match must pass, with each option held against it.

The short answer

The best app for kundli matching for marriage is the one that shows its work. It scores all eight kootas point by point out of 36, with 18 as the traditional floor, checks Nadi and Bhakoot against their classical exceptions, tests Mangal dosha on both charts with its cancellations, weighs papa samya and both seventh houses, and answers questions about the result. Hold any app to that list, ours included.

What a good guna milan app must check

The arithmetic is the easy part, and honest calculators largely agree on it when the birth details agree. Apps differ in what they check beyond the total. Six checks follow, roughly in a careful pandit's order, and how kundli matching works explains each koota.

  1. All eight kootas, point by point. Varna through Nadi, 36 gunas in all, each with its points and its reason. Tradition asks for at least 18. A bare total hides which kootas failed, the very thing a family needs to see.
  2. Nadi and Bhakoot, with their exceptions. These carry 15 of the 36 points, and a zero in either is a dosha. The classics soften Nadi dosha when the Moons share a nakshatra in different padas, or a sign in different nakshatras, and Bhakoot dosha when the Moon signs share a lord or have friendly lords. A good app names the exception, or says none applies.
  3. Mangal dosha on both charts, with cancellations. Mars counted from the lagna, and in the thorough convention from the Moon and Venus, then the cancellations, which matter as much as the placement. Two manglik charts traditionally balance. Our guide to Mangal dosha sets them out calmly.
  4. Papa samya. The harsh planets, Mars, Saturn, the Sun and Rahu, counted in each chart's marriage houses, so one load does not overwhelm the other. Lineages count this differently, so a good app tells you how it counted.
  5. The seventh houses. The gunas compare two Moons. The seventh house and its lord in each chart are the marriage houses proper, and a matcher that skips them has only screened the match.
  6. Reasons you can question. Each line should say why, naming nakshatras, nadis or the house Mars occupies, and a follow-up should get an answer drawn from the two charts.

Best kundli matching guna milan apps in India, against the checklist

Each option is described only from its own published pages, read on 10 October 2026, and where they are silent on a check, we say so.

AstroSage

Breadth is AstroSage's strength. Its app listing names a 36 point Ashtakoota match, a Mangal dosh check, a choice of Lahiri, Raman, KP or Sayan ayanamsa, and many Indian languages, Marathi among them. Human astrologers and AI astrologer personas take follow-up questions, both priced per minute. The pages we read did not say whether its match tests Nadi and Bhakoot exceptions or papa samya.

Drik Panchang

Drik Panchang is calculation first and lets you set what matters, with four ayanamsas, mean or true Rahu, and four chart styles. Its match scores eight aspects by the Ashtakuta method, and its Mangal Dosha calculator checks the lagna, Moon and Venus charts, calling a person non-manglik only if all three are clear. Advertising funds the site, a voluntary subscription removes the ads, and we saw no AI features.

Prokerala

A website of quick, tidy calculators, and a natural choice for families who match by porutham, since it offers the Kerala and Tamil systems beside the 36 point guna milan. Its 17+ page Marriage Matching PDF was listed at ₹99 at the time of writing (October 2026). We could not verify a Prokerala kundli app.

ClickAstro

ClickAstro, from Astro-Vision, has a free basic compatibility report and a paid Premium one. Its matching report lists the Rasi chart, star poruthams, a Kuja dosha check, papa points and a dasa sandhi check beside the eight Ashtakoot aspects, more of this checklist than any other report here. Consultations are sold at a fixed fee, not by the minute.

AstroTalk and Astroyogi, for a human astrologer

If you want a person, both are marketplaces of astrologers who chat or call, charged per minute from a prepaid wallet at rates that vary by astrologer, and both show a 36 point match. A good astrologer can run this whole checklist and add what no app holds, a feel for the two families. Ask for it item by item, and agree the scope first.

Graha Darpan

Here is Graha Darpan against the same list, shortfalls included. The match shows all eight kootas point by point, Mangal dosha for both charts, counted from the lagna, Moon and Venus with cancellations, and each chart's papa samya load, which the Jyotishi can itemise. Where Nadi or Bhakoot scores zero, the computed match notes any classical exception, and the Jyotishi explains it in the guided chat. The seventh houses are not scored, but the Jyotishi reads both, with their lords, from the computed charts. One full match is free without an account. Further matches use credits, and questions cost 2 credits each, shown before you spend.

What we lack matters as much. No human astrologers, no porutham, three languages (English, Hindi and Marathi), and one ayanamsa, Lahiri, named on every chart. It is a website, not a store app.

Common questions

Which is the best app for kundli matching for marriage?

The one that passes the checklist for your family's need. For a quick 36 point score, most apps here will do. For porutham, Prokerala or ClickAstro. For a person, AstroTalk or Astroyogi. For a point by point table you can question, with Mangal dosha and papa samya for both charts, Graha Darpan, which publishes this page.

How many gunas should match for marriage?

Tradition asks for at least 18 of 36, and 25 or more is considered strong. A zero in Nadi or Bhakoot needs its exceptions checked whatever the total, and Mangal dosha is judged apart from the score.

Why do two apps give different guna scores for the same couple?

Usually the Moon's nakshatra differs, through a different birth time, place or ayanamsa, and one nakshatra can move several kootas at once. Lineages also differ on a few scoring details. Compare the two tables koota by koota and the cause is usually plain.

Can a kundli matching app replace a pandit?

An app computes quickly and can show every step. A pandit brings judgement of two families that no table holds. Many families use both, the app to compute, the pandit to weigh. Graha Darpan offers the first and has no human astrologers.

Is kundli matching free on Graha Darpan?

One full match is free without an account, with all eight kootas, Mangal dosha for both charts and papa samya. Questions about a match cost 2 credits each, and the cost is shown before you spend.
